Engine House of Culture
The Jynnji Project
Jynnji means 'engine house' in Cornish, derived from the original word for a 'flower stem' as on the local skyline the chimneys of the wheals could be described similarly.

Jynnji therefore was the perfect word to encapsulate this project. Being both culturally relevant and perfect to embody the project conceptually and ethically, in relation to it's creation of a cultural community powerhouse. The generating force behind sourcing a whole host of valuable local, cultural and creative talent and resources. Whilst also being representative of regenerative, sustainable, beautiful growth that leads to blossoming, cross pollination, the seeding of new life and new growth.

OUR AIM
Our aim is to provide affordable and long-term workshop and creative studio spaces for a variety of Cornish creatives, makers, sporting and performance organisations and freelancers, to ensure their future sustainability within the local area and to nurture them to develop their practices with other like-minded organisations and individuals.
The facilities will also benefit the local community through shared access to the spaces and the site.
Additionally, we intend to showcase the heritage of the site by inviting visitors and visiting organisations and individuals through shared collaborations and public open days.
